Professional Statement
Tom Wieme , PA-C was born and raised in Minnesota. He attended his first two years of college in his hometown, and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin—LaCrosse where he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. After completing his undergraduate work, he was employed at a drug testing laboratory in St. Paul, MN. After working in the laboratory for a year and a half, he felt called to serve in missions to China. He taught oral English there for 2 years to elementary and college-aged students. While in China, he then had the desire to return to school to become a Physician Assistant.
Through the recommendation of a friend, he applied and attended Physician Assistant school at the Medical College of Georgia. He graduated in 2008 and soon after that started working at Southern Family Medical Center. He has an interest in taking care of the whole person and working to address underlying issues that may be causing diseases. In his free time, he enjoys working with medical students to mentor and disciple them through Medical Campus Outreach Bible studies and mission trips. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, exercising, watching college football, hockey, and playing golf.
